Special Topic Introduction
Carbon-based soft materials, including graphene, carbon nanotubes, MXenes, carbon fibers, carbon aerogels, and conductive carbon composites, have emerged as a cornerstone of next-generation flexible and wearable technologies owing to their exceptional electrical conductivity, mechanical flexibility, lightweight nature, and biocompatibility. Recent advances in material synthesis, structural engineering, scalable manufacturing, and multifunctional integration have significantly expanded their applications in flexible electronics, soft robotics, bioelectronics, intelligent sensing, energy storage, and human–machine interfaces. Despite remarkable progress, challenges remain in achieving high-performance, reliable, and sustainable carbon-based soft devices for real-world applications.
This Special Issue aims to highlight the latest advances in the design, fabrication, characterization, and application of advanced carbon-based soft materials and devices. Original research articles, reviews, and perspectives covering fundamental studies, innovative materials, device engineering, and emerging applications are all welcome. The issue seeks to promote interdisciplinary collaboration and accelerate the development of carbon-based soft technologies for future intelligent and sustainable systems.
Key areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
● Advanced synthesis and structural engineering of carbon-based soft materials;
● Carbon-based flexible and stretchable electronics;
● Carbon materials for wearable sensors and bioelectronics;

● Carbon-based multifunctional composites for intelligent sensing and human–machine interfaces;
● Biocompatible and sustainable carbon-based soft materials and emerging biomedical applications.
