Bio
Dr. Wei-Hua Chen earned his PhD in Genetics from the Beijing Institute of Genomics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Following his doctoral studies, he conducted postdoctoral research at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Germany and the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB) in Switzerland.
His primary research focus is the precise modulation of gut microbiota and its implications for human health. By integrating cohort analysis with experimental validation, he aims to identify disease biomarkers, prognostic indicators, and therapeutic targets rooted in gut microbiota dynamics. Additionally, he explores the application of bacteriophages and small molecules to achieve targeted regulation of specific gut bacteria, with the goal of restoring microbial balance and treating associated diseases.
Research Interests:
Gut microbiota; Host–microbe interactions; Prebiotics; Metagenomics; Animal microbiome; Bacteriophages
